Private lawyer, lawyer Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, sarcastically tapped President Akufo-Addo for keeping one of his many campaign promises after so many years in office.
According to him, during the four years of President Akufo-Addo’s reign, he was able to restore the operational authorization of the pro-NDC station, Radio Gold, which was revoked for failure to pay spectrum fees. .
Speaking on Ok FM‘s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe echoed the NDC party’s position that the revocation of Radio Gold’s license was politically motivated.
âIn four years, Akufo-Addo has kept one of his campaign promises. So far in four years, only one Akufo-Addo campaign pledge has been kept; even that is also a promise that he will reinstate the license of Radio Gold.

Radio Gold, 132 entities having obtained radio broadcasting authorizations
Radio Gold and Radio XYZ which were closed after the 2017 FM audit are among the entities whose new applications have been approved.
Fifty-seven of the 144 frequency modulation (FM) stations cited for various infractions in a 2017 audit exercise by the NCA were closed in 2019.
In accordance with the decisions of the Electronic Communication Tribunal (ECT), 30 of the 57 stations filed new applications for FM authorization.
In the case of Radio Gold, for example, the license was revoked for non-payment of operating royalties over a long period.
The Electronic Communications Tribunal therefore ruled that by this act, the license had expired.
However, it is not automatic that they return to their old frequencies after the granting of the new authorization.
Indeed, the NCA allocates frequencies based on availability.
