Raleigh, North Carolina – Since Monday night, North Carolinians across the state have rallied and marched to protest the proposed SCOTUS advisory that would overturn Roe vs. Wade and to compromise safe and legal abortion. While Democrats and advocates have redoubled their efforts to protect the right to choose, Republican candidates and leaders have made it clear that they will not rest until they rob people of the ability to control their own body, life and future.
Republican candidates for the North Carolina Legislative Assembly are inspired by their leader, Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, who issued a statement “calling on the General Assembly to act” saying “if the Supreme Court returns power to the states, it will be our duty to protect the life of the unborn.”
Republican Rep. Keith Kidwell heard Robinson loud and clear and said he was “drafting legislation similar to the Texas abortion ban.”
Yet abortion is legal in North Carolina and will remain so as long as Governor Cooper and the Legislative Democrats work together to block Republicans’ unrelenting sweeping war on health care and the right to choose.
See what other Republican lawmakers and candidates are saying:
Senate Leader Phil Berger declined to comment.
Office of President Tim Moore: “The President is unequivocally pro-life and has led a pro-life majority in the NC General Assembly for 6 years.
