Randi Weingarten wants you to forget about his school closure campaign

American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten has been trying to erase her role in shutting down schools for months, but her track record shows that she has done everything to stay in the good grace of the Biden administration and his tyrannical COVID regime.

In a New York Times article on Weingarten, Michelle Goldberg describes the leader of the teachers’ union as misunderstood and even lies about his past position on school closures.

“Rather than defending the closures, she spent a lot of her energy, both in public and behind the scenes, trying to open schools. And she has tried, sometimes uncomfortably, to act as a mediator between desperate parents who mourn their children’s interrupted studies and beleaguered teachers who feel blamed for a calamity they did not create ”, Goldberg wrote.

Despite Goldberg and even Weingarten’s insistence that the AFT president has always promoted in-person learning by demanding more government funding for personal protective equipment and by endorsing tyrannical vaccine mandates (thus than critical race theory and the re-education programs sparked by the events of January 6), Weingarten’s actions speak louder than his words.

Weingarten’s pandemic toll is nothing more than an advertisement for anti-class learning. From the start, it was Weingarten’s AFT PAC that funneled over $ 1.6 million to pro-lockdown Democrats and left-wing organizations. In early April, many of the same Democrats who benefit from union political donations blocked Biden’s $ 1.9 COVID spending plan through Congress in hopes the funds would push schools to reopen. Biden’s spending plan, which has been criticized by Republicans, allocated more than $ 129 billion to elementary, middle and high schools to use in their reopening efforts, despite the unspent $ 100 million already allocated to spending schools as “cleaning and disinfection” in the CARES Act. A few weeks later, 52% of K-12 districts still did not offer fully in-person classes to all of their students.

Weingarten’s AFT was just one of the hypocritical teachers’ unions that attempted to hold taxpayers hostage by demanding more funding in return for children’s basic education. President Joe Biden and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have listened sympathetically to these demands and have repeatedly ignored the science, siding with teachers’ unions who have continued to demand salary increases and benefits even after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine that was supposed to put them back in the classroom.

It was only after data showed the damage the closures were having on people, including young children, that Weingarten attempted to reverse the script and blame former President Trump for extending the shutdowns. schools. In May, shortly after making an anti-Semitic apology for not returning to classrooms, Weingarten claimed his union members had been calling for schools to reopen for “months and months and months now,” but said President Trump and Republican lawmakers stood in the way.

As corporate media touted the Delta variant as a potential obstacle to returning students to school in fall 2021, Weingarten again threatened school closures if students and teachers did not hide in their return for the fall semester. A week earlier, she had not promised to fully reopen the schools and instead said that teachers’ unions such as AFT who have delayed the return to classrooms “will try.”

As of Monday, Weingarten was still running in-person classes over the heads of the unvaccinated.

As School Choice advocate Corey DeAngelis noted, no matter how hard Weingarten, his teacher union allies and his friends in the corporate media try, they won’t be able to rewrite his long history of stifling student education to promote a COVID policy agenda.
